St Peter’s-Our History
St Peter’s Church is a small yet cherished Anglican church in the village of Holymoorside, part of the Parish of St John’s Church, Walton. For over 180 years, our peaceful building has been a visible symbol of Christian faith in the village.
1841:
Originally built as a Sunday School for St Thomas’ Church, Brampton, the church has been extended and refurbished over the years.
1914:
A burial ground was added, serving those with a connection to Holymoorside.

The building underwent significant renovation, effectively rotating 90 degrees and expanding while maintaining its rural charm.

During the COVID pandemic, a Memorial Garden and Wall were created by one of our congregation members. While the churchyard is now closed to new burials, ashes can be interred here in perpetuity.
Guidance notes on the memorial garden can be found here: Garden Notes
