Baptisms
We welcome any child for baptism who lives either in the parish or who lives locally and whose parents already have significant links with St John’s . Baptisms usually occur in our All Age Services, every 2nd Sunday in the month.
If you wish to make an enquiry about baptism please contact the Church Office (Contact Us) in the first instance so that we can arrange a time to meet with you and to arrange for you to attend a ‘Baptism Enquiry Evening’. At these gatherings, small groups of parents have the opportunity to look at the meaning of Baptism and at what the Service involves. We also ask parents to attend at least one All Age Service before their child is baptised.
Weddings
St John’s welcomes applications for marriages from any couple where at least one of them lives within the parish of Walton. Please contact the Church Office to arrange an appointment.
We are willing to conduct weddings on Saturdays or weekdays but not on Sundays or Bank Holidays. There may also be difficulty in arranging a date if you wish to have it close to Christmas or Easter.
Marriage of those who have been divorced. We do believe it is often appropriate for those who have been divorced to be married again in Church. However, as there might be some circumstances where this would not be the case, we ask couples to spend some time speaking with a member of the Clergy before a booking can be taken. Please contact the Church Office to arrange a time when we can meet with you.
