David Mouncer - Assistant Minister
“Who I am” is defined well by the ‘loves’ in my life.
In 1984 I fell in love for the first time! While studying at Aberystwyth University, I became a Christian. Although from a good church family, it never meant very much to me until that night. God’s love seemed to flood my life and changed me so much. I strive to respond to his love every day of my life.
It was on the same night that I met my other great love. On the 25th October 1984 I met Jesus and also, I met Lisa for the first time. Within a few months we were engaged and later we married. 25 years on and with four children, we are still ‘wowing’ each other.
I am a Leeds fan (forgive me), and, strangely, I have a great love for all things Icelandic. (“Eg heitir David. Eg er prestur”)
I taught for three years before being called to the ordained ministry. Over the last 15 years, I have led two churches, but after a diagnosis with a chronic condition, Bishop Alistair kindly moved me to the church here in Walton. Three P’s define my ministry here in St. John’s. I preach, I have a ministry of prayer and intercession, and I have pastoral concern for people.
