Little Fishes
“Little Fishes” is the name given to the monthly meeting for pre-school age children at St. John’s and in the local community. We have our own special song and prayer to begin and end the sessions – and we have stories, rhymes, singing, “band” and prayers to introduce the children to Jesus and the world around them. We aim to make Church exciting for the children and show them how special they are. Mums or Dads enjoy our time together too!
After this session, which lasts about 30 minutes, there are a variety of craft and play activities connected to the theme of the day. These might include colouring, painting, dough, playing in the sand or water, collage or simply playing with Duplo, bricks, jigsaws and toys. Parents enjoy a “cuppa” and a chat whilst the children play. Sometimes we have a special event such as a “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” and the festivals of Christmas, Easter and Harvest are usually celebrated with great gusto!
Any pre-school child (plus parent or carer!) is very welcome to join “Little Fishes”.
We love to see new faces. We meet every third Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. and finish by 3p.m. in time for you to collect older children from school.
