Andy Broom - Vicar of St John's Walton
Andy has been at St John’s since 1996. When he arrived, the Church was part of the much larger parish of St Thomas, Brampton and he was then ‘Curate in Charge’ of St John’s. In 2000, the new parish of Walton was created and Andy became our first Vicar.
He comes originally from Norfolk. He left there to go to Keele University where he did a degree in Geography and Politics. After this he worked for 3 years in and around Newcastle under Lyme, as a Youth Worker with the County Council and as a Pastoral Assistant in his local Church. Following 3 years at Trinity Theological College in Bristol, he moved to Telford where he became Curate at All Saints Wellington.
Andy is married to Tina and they have 2 children. When he’s not working or busy with the family he loves to escape into the Peak District or watch his beloved Norwich City .
Lisa arrived at St John’s following her ordination in July 2005, having trained at St John’s Nottingham .
Lisa comes from South Africa originally and has lived in the UK since 1996. She worked as a midwife for four years in South Africa . Prior to becoming an Ordinand she was a Care Home Manager in homes providing care for the elderly, including nursing care.
Lisa is single and enjoys both spending time with people and time on her own. Lisa enjoys the movies and most forms of the performing arts, likes good food and fine wine. When she gets the chance she enjoys being creative, especially if the creative expression includes ‘playing’ with fabric. She enjoys escaping to the Peak District.
